If you’re in the large majority, you’re in the frame of mind that Monday’s kind of suck. Believe me, I completely get it. After a weekend, I want nothing more than one more day. A day to relax, get more done, spend time with friends but being an adult means I can’t do #allofthethings. I need to put on my big girl pants, get up and make some money.
And here’s the deal…Mondays will always come and we just have to come up with different strategies to make them a little better. As always, I have your back and have come up with 5 easy things to do to make Mondays suck a little less.
Work it out
Every Monday morning at 5am I’m working out with my trainer. Yes, I look like a hot mess and can’t tell my left from my right but I’m there. It’s my little way of preparing myself for the week and having someone who counts on me is HUGE! I need that accountability partner to roll my butt of bed and make it happen first thing in the morning.
Whether you go to the gym, need 5 minutes to meditate, or go on a quick run- spend a few minutes first thing clearing your mind and showing your body some love.
5 Minute Acts of Kindness
Just like Adam Grant suggests doing little 5 minute acts can make a big difference.
When you do something for someone else it makes your day more fulfilling. This shouldn’t be something that takes out your whole day, just small things to help out others like:
- Making a quick introduction
- Donating a gift
- Sending a thank you email
- Giving someone a compliment
You don’t have to do something big to make a huge impact.
Unfriend on social media.
Start the beginning of the week by getting rid of the negativity.
Stop comparing yourself to other people and letting their opinions ruin your day.
The first step is to clean up your friend list. You don’t have to subject yourself to the negativity every time you log in to your account.
When I compare myself to others I lose sight of my goals and can easily spiral into a social media comparison frenzy. Remember, people are only posting content they want you to see.
You have control in what consume, so stay away from comparing yourself to other peoples’ controlled content.
Do something for yourself.
Right here, right now do something for yourself.
I don’t mean buy yourself that sweater you don’t have the money for I mean something non- materialistic. Spend some time doing things that you want to do like read that dusty book that’s been sitting on the shelf, grab a cup of coffee with a friend, catch up on your favorite show, or take a nap.
Show yourself some self-care on Monday to set the tone for the rest of the week.
Reframe Your Thinking
Did something happen that put you in a bad mood today? Let it roll off your back and think about this awesome quote:
“Was it a bad day? Or was it a bad five minutes that you milked all day?” —Unknown
Don’t let that crappy thing ruin your day and especially your week because we have a little ways to go until the weekend, friends.
Now that you have these 5 things to make your Mondays suck a little less, what are you going to do first? What’s your plan to have an awesome week-every week?

YES to all of this – especially unfriending on social media. It’s something I need to do more of because there’s so much negativity sometimes on my newsfeed given the political climate at this time. Love these tips!
I used to be afraid of hurting people’s feelings by unfriending them but got over that when it started to effect me. I hide some people’s feeds to as opposed to unfriending-especially during the election!
I love the 5-minute Acts of Kindness idea! Such a great thing! Another easy way to do this is to pay for the person behind you in the drive-thru line 🙂
I completely agree with all of these! There is this huge misconception about Mondays and that they are going to be awful, but it’s the start of the new week and a chance to start fresh so I actually don’t mind Mondays!

Unfriending negative people off of social media is the best thing I have done for my soul. Ignoring all of the negativity and putting all of my energey on positivity is the best thing I have ever done.
I couldn’t agree more Jenn! Doing a social media cleanse totally helped my outlook!
What an article! Unfriending always works out for me! It’s always better when the negative vibes are gone. 🙂
It really does especially when its bringing so much negative energy!
